The Central Iconic Tower of the New Capital of Egypt is a proposed skyscraper that will be located in the heart of the soon-to-be developed New Capital City, in the east of Cairo. Scheduled for completion in 2020, the tower will reach a height of 830 meters and will become the tallest building in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East.
Designed by international architects Foster + Partners, the tower will feature a distinctive stepped form with an open space at its apex called the “Sky Deck” providing 360 degree views of Egypt’s capital city. This will be complemented by a viewing gallery, a VIP lounge, restaurants, and an observation wheel. Additionally, visitors will have access to a retail mall and entertainment complex located on the lower levels.
Funding for the project is currently being provided through a partnership between Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Culture, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Construction of the tower is estimated to cost upwards of $3 billion, making it the most expensive structure ever built in Egypt.
Once completed, the Central Iconic Tower is expected to become a major tourist destination and a symbol of Egypt
